For several years, these popular musical workshops have been offered to preschoolers, and now we have decided to open them to the general public. The workshops reveal the hidden recesses of music to children and to the adults accompanying them. We introduce them to the musicians and their instruments and to the beautiful building known as the Rudolfinum. Join us on our adventure of discovery of the world of music.

"Do you know that some instruments are made of wood, while others are made of metal? And that the metal ones are called the brass instruments? And what happens if people who play these instruments lose their front teeth? So how about coming to explore some brass instruments? Come to the Rudolfinum for a fairy tale about the animals and the robbers.

String Sweets

We’ll introduce you to the family of string instruments. Dad and mom—the bass and cello, and the children—violin and viola. And just like any other family, they play together. Just come to see and hear the sound of the strings played by the musicians of the Rudolphin Ensemble.

With the actress Martha Issová, we will visit Wonderland, a kingdom of music and other miracles. Our new programme, based on a script by Alice Nellis, presents music as a part of life, something to play with, explore, try out, and test. The Prague Baroque Ensemble and its conductor Vojtěch Jouza are looking forward to meeting you.

With beautiful music that tells stories, we will be flying around Europe from north to south and from west to east. And for those who are brave, there is a ride to Vesuvius in a cable car!

In a season when we are commemorating the 200th anniversary of Bedřich Smetana's birth, Jana Boušková is presenting selections from Má vlast arranged for harp, Josef Špaček and Miroslav Sekera will play compositions for violin and piano, and young musicians under the guidance of Magdaléna Mašlaňová will play Smetana's works for quartet. At this series of concerts with commentary, selected compositions will be heard with verbal explanations.

We also invite the elderly to non-traditional musical encounters. Everybody, regardless of age, abilities, and musical experience can join in. Because it will above all be about the joy of new social bonds, the experience of listening to music, finding new links between rhythm, tempo, movement, instrument colours, and the silence between the notes.
