Steps to the New World. Great Stories of European Music

With beautiful music that tells stories, we will be flying around Europe from north to south and from west to east. Bizet’s fiery Carmen will be ignited, Peer Gynt, now stranded, will awaken one lovely morning, the singer Tannhäuser will enter Wartburg Castle, and a fairy-tale prince will come to the shore of Swan Lake.

Steps to the New World. Great Stories of European Music

The programme is based on a musical part but also on a spoken word that will be given in Czech language only. The programme will not be supplied with English subtitles.

From the treasure-trove of European Romantic music, we have chosen compositions (or parts of them) inspired by stories. Many of the stories are big and dramatic, but some are even quite funny. Each composer tells a story in his own way, but at the same time we discover the diversity of national tastes, fragrances, and colours depending upon whether the composer is Italian, French, German, Czech, Norwegian, or Russian.

Our concerts come with commentary; discussing the music are the conductor, the moderator, the soloists, members of the Czech Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, and sometimes even the audience.

We offer season tickets and tickets for individual concerts.

Price of individual tickets: from 250 to 600 CZK.
Price of season tickets: from 500 to 1300 CZK.
