Who’s Afraid of the Philharmonic?
The program for children is based on a musical part but also on a spoken word that will be given in Czech language only. The program will not be supplied with English subtitles.
A musical laboratory with Martha Issová as the main researcher. The questions usually studied are: why is classical music called classical? Can it be of any practical use in the real world? In our laboratory, we study questions like: What would Smetana’s “Moldau” sound like played backwards? Why does Martha Issová carry a hammer in her pocket? How she does know how to play Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony? And how does the conductor REALLY behave when he turns his back to the audience and conducts the orchestra? The participants in the research include not only the Czech Student Philharmonic and the audience, but often unexpected guests as well, and many of the important people who will appear are kept secret, so we can’t tell you anything about them in the programme. Enter at your own risk!
