Orchestral Academy – VIOLIN

The Czech Philharmonic and its Chief Conductor and Music Director Semyon Bychkov announce an audition for the Orchestral Academy for the period from 1st September 2024 to 30th June 2026 in the violin section.

Application deadline: 9th March 2024
Audition date and place:  9th April 2024, Rudolfinum, Praha

The opportunity to broaden their education and gain valuable experience in the academy of the first Czech orchestra is especially available to students and graduates of secondary and higher music schools, both from the Czech Republic and abroad.

To apply, please fill in the application form and attach your structured CV and a copy of your diploma or confirmation of the ongoing study.

Audition repertoire

Solo piece:

First movement of a 19th or 20th century violin concerto (cadenza optional), or a major work for violin and orchestra from the same time period

Orchestral excerpts:

  • R. Strauss: Don Juan
  • A. Dvořák: Carnival, overture
  • B. Smetana: Šárka
  • B. Smetana: Vyšehrad
  • L. van Beethoven: Symphony No. 9
