Farewell to flute player Zdeněk Vaníček

It is with deep regret that we announce the death of our oldest philharmonic player, flutist Zdeněk Vaníček, on 13 August at the age of almost 103.

At the age of 96, Zdeněk Vaníček reminisced about his time with the Czech Philharmonic, where he played from 1947 to 1980. His precious memories of collaboration with Václav Talich, Rafael Kubelík, Karel Ančerl and Václav Neumann, as well as experiences from legendary foreign tour, will surely warm your heart.
