Karen Gomyo to Perform with the Czech Philharmonic in Scandinavia and Open the 131st Season

Karen Gomyo will join the Czech Philharmonic at concerts in Stockholm and Helsinki in place of the previously announced Janine Jansen, who has withdrawn for health reasons. Karen Gomyo will also take the soloist’s role in the Czech Philharmonic’s three Opening Concerts, which will launch the Prague concert season from 1 to 3 September.

The Czech Philharmonic will begin its touring schedule for its 131st season with four concerts in Stockholm and Helsinki. Under the baton of Chief Conductor and Music Director Semyon Bychkov, the orchestra will be joined by violinist Karen Gomyo and pianist Yunchan Lim. Audiences can look forward to Shostakovich’s Violin Concerto No. 1 in A minor, Dvořák’s Symphony No. 7, Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G major, and Smetana’s Má vlast.

Karen Gomyo will also open the Czech Philharmonic’s Prague season with Dmitri Shostakovich’s Violin Concerto. In the second half of the evening, Semyon Bychkov will conduct Dvořák’s Symphony No. 7. The first of the concerts will be broadcast live by Czech Television. The concert on 3 September will be available to watch on Mezzo, medici.tv and Stage+.
