The Four Seasons from Venice and Buenos Aires

What do Antonio Vivaldi and Ástor Piazzolla have in common? Both composers wrote music about the four seasons. Josef Špaček will be the soloist for our second concert and will join with a small string ensemble in playing one movement from each of Vivaldi's concertos and Piazzola's entire composition.

The soloist for our second concert, the violinist Josef Špaček, will build a bridge from Italy to Argentina joining Antonio Vivaldi and Ástor Piazzolla. Both composers wrote music about the four seasons. There is hardly anyone in the world who doesn’t know Vivaldi’s famous violin concertos, first printed in 1725 with an interesting dedication: to Count Václav Morzin, a native of Italy whose domain was in Bohemia near Vrchlabí… We will hear one section from each of Vivaldi’s concertos for a bit of Spring, a bit of Summer, a bit of Autumn, and a bit of Winter. Ástor Piazzolla, king of the Argentine tango, wrote his four seasons almost a quarter of a millennium after Vivaldi, between 1965 and 1969. We will hear Piazzolla’s whole work arranged for solo violin and small string ensemble.

We offer subscriptions and tickets to individual concerts.

The concerts on 11 and 13 Dec. 2024 are reserved for subscribers.
Individual (non-subscription) tickets are available only for the concert on 12 Dec. 2024.

One teacher can order a maximum of 60 subscriptions or individual tickets for a maximum of 60 pupils/students for a maximum of two concerts.

The programme is based on a musical part but also on a spoken word that will be given in Czech language only. The programme will not be supplied with English subtitles.
