CCMS – Subscription Series


The Czech Society for Chamber Music (CSCM) opens its 130th anniversary season. The dramaturgy of 28 concerts divided into five cycles is truly varied this year. Look forward to works by Dvořák, Smetana and Mozart, as well as contemporary composers such as Lera Auerbach and Petr Popelka. Petr Popelka is this year's curator and, in addition to his role as composer, he will also appear as double bassist and pianist.

Series curator Josef Špaček appears in three programmes alongside Czech and foreign musicians. Other concerts feature Slovenian Slowind Quintet and pianist Jan Bartoš or world-renowned Belcea Quartet and Miroslav Sekera. Czech Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra and violinist Jan Mráček or the Smetana Trio represent Czech musicians this season.

Celebrating their jubilees, the Bennewitz Quartet plays Brahms and Dvořák. Guarneri Trio Prague celebrates its 35th anniversary and Juilliard String Quartet marks 75 years. The Czech Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra and violinist Jiří Vodička or Iranian-American harpsichordist Mahan Esfahani and his British colleagues promise attractive programmes.

We present top domestic and foreign soloists. Violinist Frank Peter Zimmermann plays Beethoven-only programme and Josef Špaček presents 20th century music. Bass-baritone Gerald Finley accompanied by Julius Drake promise unforgettable evening. One of the most sought-after pianists of today, Yuja Wang, closes the season.

Italian percussionist Simone Rubino opens the season. Pianist Ivo Kahánek, clarinettist Kateřina Váchová Soukalová and cellist Petr Nouzovský present 20th century music. Singer Markéta Cukrová offers Italian vocal music of the 1st half of the 17th century. The series also features violinist František Novotný, pianist Igor Ardašev and the Eben Trio.

The Zemlinsky Quartet, pianist Marek Kozák or the Czech Brass ensemble are part of this varied series. The Prague Philharmonic Children’s Choir presents Martinů’s music during the Advent. Outstanding French organist Thierry Escaich introduces himself as a composer. The Czech Philharmonic Wind Harmony and conductor Ondřej Vrabec close the season.
