CCMS – Subscription Series


The Czech Society for Chamber Music (CSCM) opens its 130th anniversary season. The dramaturgy of 28 concerts divided into five cycles is truly varied this year. Look forward to works by Dvořák, Smetana and Mozart, as well as contemporary composers such as Lera Auerbach and Petr Popelka. Petr Popelka is this year's curator and, in addition to his role as composer, he will also appear as double bassist and pianist.

The Chamber Series I will offer concerts by the Dover Quartet, the Czech Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra with conductor Ondřej Vrabec, the Bennewitz Quartet from the Czech Republic and German Artemis Quartet. You can also look forward to a recital of Czech soprano Kateřina Kněžíková and the Gewandhaus Woodwind Quintet, the world’s oldest ensemble of its kind.

Cellist Clemens Hagen will make several appearances within the Chamber Series II. He is the artistic curator of the series and will himself perform on three occasions – with his Hagen Quartet, as a member of the Viena Piano Trio and together with the Wihan Quartet. Other performers will include the Pražák Quartet, Musica Florea with Martina Janková and the Czech Philharmonic Chamber Ensemble with Jan Mráček and Karel Untermüller.

Early Evening Concerts  •  Six early evening concerts

The Early Evening Concerts will include performances of the Prague Philharmonia Wind Quartet, Mahan Esfahani, Iranian harpsichordist living in Prague, with gamba player Hille Perl, laureates of top Czech competitions and cellist Camille Thomas with pianist Lukáš Klánský. You will also see the Czech Philharmonic Winds conducted by Ondřej Vrabec and the Graff Quartet.

Morning Concerts  •  Six Saturday morning concerts

The Morning Concerts series with Saturday matinées in the Liechtenstein Palace will offer the Dvořák Piano Trio, the Prague Brass Ensemble with guests, Martinů Voices with a Christmas programme, organist Pavel Svoboda and French horn player Kateřina Javůrková, the first Prague concert of the renowned European Guitar Quartet and the Talich Quartet.

We present a new exclusive Series R with recitals of Czech and foreign artists. You can look forward to Austrian pianist Rudolf Buchbinder, British tenor Ian Bostridge, American cellist Alisa Weilerstein and Czech Chopin expert Ivan Klánský, this time playing Beethoven.
