He started playing the piano at the age of nine and the percussions aged eleven. He studied at the Prague Conservatory with Vladimír Vlasák and Stanislav Hojný in 1978–1983. He has been teaching at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague since 2013 and the Jan Deyl Conservatory since 2014.
