Marie Horáková, a native of Kroměříž, is now in her sixth year of study at the Brno Conservatoire and in her second year of study at the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts in Brno, studying under Prof. Jindřich Petráš. She has repeatedly won first prize at music competitions, so far, for example, having one first prize three times and the title of Overall Winner at the Pardubice Winds Competition, and she also took first prize at the International Competition for Wind Instrument Players in Brno and at Pro Bohemia Ostrava. Also worth mentioning is her participation in the semifinals at the prestigious Prague Spring International Music Competition, where she was one of 13 young horn players from around the world to advance to the semifinals. This year she earned a prestigious scholarship from the YAMAHA Music Europe Foundation.

Besides playing in the Orchestral Academy of the Czech Philharmonic, she also won the audition to the Orchestral Academy of the Brno Philharmonic, which she is also joining.

She also currently plays in the French horn section of the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic in Zlín.

In the past, she has gained orchestral experience as an extra player with such ensembles as the Pilsen Philharmonic, the Czech Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic in Zlín, and the Opera of the Moravian Theatre in Olomouc.

During the coming season, she has concert appearances scheduled as a soloist with the Moravian Philharmonic in Olomouc and the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic in Zlín.
