After studying at the Central Conservatory of Music in China, she went to the US to study for a year at the Yale School of Music and then to Germany to study for a year at the University of Music Munich. In 2019, Yang began her studies at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste in Switzerland where she still studies. In all these destinations, she also gained orchestral experience in various orchestras. Yang has participated in international competitions, winning 1st place in Italy and Taiwan and 2nd place in China, and has also attended many masterclasses under the tutelage of distinguished timpanists.
