laureate of the International Chopin Competition on Period Instruments
Collegium 1704
V. H. Voříšek, a native of Bohemia, spent most of his life in Vienna, where he worked his way up to the position of organist to the imperial court, and his music was a departure point for leading Romantic composers. It is in his piano music that we first encounter the term “impromptu”, a genre later closely associated with Franz Schubert and Frédéric Chopin. The concert will feature Voříšek’s only symphony and a piano concerto by Chopin. Appearing with Collegium 1704 will be the new winner of the second edition of the International Chopin Competition on Period Instruments. On 16 October 2023, we will announce the name of the soloist and which Chopin concerto will be played.
