Founded already in the early 1970s, the Pražák Quartet will celebrate remarkable 50th anniversary in the 2021/2022 concert season. Classmates from the Prague Conservatory continued to study together at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. They then broadened their studies in the USA (Cincinnati), focusing mainly on the Second Viennese School music. Their star began to rise when they won the prestigious competition in Evian (France), followed by the 1st prize in the Prague Spring Competition the year after. They toured the world with trips to Australia, China, the USA, and mainly Japan, which they have already visited 23 times. They have recorded over 50 CDs including complete recordings of the most famous Czech and world composers, mostly for the Praga Digitals label. Their recordings have won numerous awards. Czech Chamber Music Society subscribers could most recently hear the ensemble in October 2019. This special concert within the most prestigious Czech chamber series will mark the end of Pražák Quartet´s original formation five decades career.
