Subscription Series I

Series curator Josef Špaček appears in three programmes alongside Czech and foreign musicians. Other concerts feature Slovenian Slowind Quintet and pianist Jan Bartoš or world-renowned Belcea Quartet and Miroslav Sekera. Czech Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra and violinist Jan Mráček or the Smetana Trio represent Czech musicians this season.

Subscription Series I

The 2021/2022 season is the second in a row for which we chose a “curator” as the artistic supervisor for this Monday series. The first person to serve in this role was Austrian cellist Clemens Hagen. This year, we sought a Czech artist and we are pleased that violinist Josef Špaček accepted the curator role and created three lovely programmes. Accepting invitations to collaborate on the series are such illustrious foreign soloists and chamber musicians as Sarah McElravy, Julian Steckel, István Várdai, and Júlia Pusker along with a number of excellent Czech artists. The concert programmes will feature works by I. Stravinsky, B. Martinů, A. Glazunov, and F. Schubert. Two concerts will offer more interesting encounters between Czech and foreign performers. Pianist Jan Bartoš will be appearing with the Slowind Quintet from Slovenia, and for Dvořák’s Piano Quintet, Miroslav Sekera will perform alongside the world-famous Belcea Quartet. Representing the purely Czech performing world will be the Czech Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra led by violinist Jan Mráček and the Smetana Trio.
