Two opening concerts conducted by Chief Conductor Semyon Bychkov are already a tradition. His interpretation of Shostakovich’s Leningrad Symphony is certainly not to be missed. The tradition of Velvet Revolution Concerts began last season, celebrating the legacy of the Velvet Revolution. Together with Yuja Wang, Jakub Hrůša prepared Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto and music by Leoš Janáček and Witold Lutosławski. The New Year’s concert has become an indispensable part of the Czech Philharmonic season, this time with two performances under the baton of conductor Manfred Honeck who is joined by soprano Katharina Konradi. Jiří Vodička and Petr Altrichter feature in a new special concert. The traditional Open Air Concert dedicated to Jiří Bělohlávek closes the season.
