What to look forward to:

131st season of the Czech Philharmonic

The Czech Philharmonic enters its 131st season under the direction of Chief Conductor and Music Director Semyon Bychkov. The orchestra will welcome guest conductors Jakub Hrůša and Sir Simon Rattle, Artist-in-Residence Janine Jansen, and Composer-in-Residence Thomas Adès. The season’s programme will mark the 200th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven’s death and feature a number of world and Czech premieres. Audiences can look forward to 72 concerts in the Czech Republic, 22 international performances, and more than 300 educational events.

132nd Season of the Czech Chamber Music Society

Twenty-eight chamber programmes across five concert series, four Advent concerts, and a special evening offer a rich and varied line-up of leading Czech and internationally renowned performers. A central focus of the season’s programme is the legacy of Ludwig van Beethoven. Concertmaster Jan Fišer will present a complete cycle of Beethoven’s violin sonatas, while Evgeny Kissin has chosen the composer’s piano sonatas for his special evening. Other distinguished artists featured this season include Janine Jansen, Vincent Dubois, and Víkingur Ólafsson.

Programmes For children, teenagers and adults

The upcoming season will also feature educational programmes for all age groups. These include creative, engaging workshops for young children and their parents, guided concerts for school audiences, and musical events for adults.

For preschools and schools

In the new season, the Czech Philharmonic offers workshops or guided concerts for children of all age groups. From kids in kindergartens to pupils of both levels of primary schools to students of secondary schools. About music, composers and instruments in a fun and educational way.

“This past season was marked by the completion of Mahler’s symphonic cycle, which took us eight years to realize. It has also brought further recognition of the orchestra’s unique identity both in the Czech Republic and abroad. While this is a source of great satisfaction, it also deepens our sense of responsibility toward the art of music and toward you, our audience. Stagnation is not an option. My fervent hope is that the new season will be the next step in building on these achievements.”

— Semyon Bychkov, Chief Conductor and Music Director of the Czech Philharmonic
