In Search of Gustav Mahler’s Symphonies

“It is quite unbelievable that Mahler – with his excellent sense of rhythm – is unable to take two steps in succession at the same tempo. Instead, he changes speed so often that it is utterly impossible for anyone to keep up with him. It is even worse when rowing, because his strokes are completely irregular – sometimes in rapid succession, at other times very slow.”

— From a recollection by Natalie Bauer-Lechner

Keeping up with Mahler was no easy task. Following the proposed route, however, is. You may also choose your own path. At each of the nine stops, you will encounter one of the composer’s symphonies.
