Just when we began to consider adding Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet to our Steps series, Marko Ivanović took charge of rehearsing the composer's most famous ballet in Brno. What a coincidence! Some of the musical numbers have also found a home on concert stages around the world, and we try to tell Shakespeare's story through this motion-inspired music.

Just when we began to consider adding Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet to our Steps series, Marko Ivanović took charge of rehearsing the composer's most famous ballet in Brno. What a coincidence! And Brno is where the work had its world premiere on 30 December 1938. Some of the musical numbers like the Montagues and the Capulets  have also found a home on concert stages around the world, and we try to tell Shakespeare's story through this motion-inspired music.

The programme is based on a musical part but also on a spoken word that will be given in Czech language only. The programme will not be supplied with English subtitles.

The Czech Student Philharmonic is supported by the Czech Philharmonic’s general partner, the ČEZ Group.
