I followed my fortune wherever it led me.
You will not wonder at what I have done if you reflect:
I do as I like, you also, and everyone likewise.
Kryštof Harant of Polžice and Bezdružice

It is the thirtieth day of March of the year of our Lord 1598. Kryštof Harant sets out on his journey to the Holy Land and Egypt. He decides to publish all the important, interesting, new, and inspirational things he had discovered on his distant journey. His travel diary is published in 1608, and it soon becomes a very popular book with townspeople and the nobility.

Kryštof was adventurous by nature; he had to be courageous and determined when he set out on such a long journey. He also showed his courage and creativity when he came back home to this country, where he was able to win the favour of Emperor Rudolf II, a peculiar ruler with a mercurial temperament and a passionate art collector.

And Kryštof supposedly saved his life! Even 400 years later, we can take inspiration from this important person.
With determination and curiosity, he also composed music. At the workshop we will hear excerpts from his works and from songs of the Mediterranean region and the Middle East, and we will hear the magical sound of period instruments. Together, we will experience the atmosphere of Rudolphine Prague, and we will visit an alchemist's workshop and a place of execution in 1621.

For this concert, one teacher can order a tickets for maximum of 28 pupils. The minimum number of pupils for the programme is 24.

The programme is based on a musical part but also on a spoken word that will be given in Czech language only. The programme will not be supplied with English subtitles.
