He attended clarinet lessons in the local music school with Rudolf Kraus, continued at the Prague Conservatory with Jiří Stárek and the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague with Professor Milan Etlík and Associate Professor Milan Kostohryz. He joined the Prague Symphony Orchestra in 1985 while still studying. Besides the clarinet, he also plays the bass clarinet, saxophones and basset horn in the Czech Philharmonic.
He has been interested in both the classical and contemporary chamber music since his studies and collaborates with a number of chamber orchestras and ensembles. Thanks to his various skills, he is also a popular studio player. He has recorded classical and contemporary music, playing all the above-listed instruments.
