Second trombone

 

Czech Philharmonic and Music Director Semyon Bychkov announce audition for the 2nd trombone (with perspective of moving to the 1st trombone from 2021/2022). 

-          starting 1st September 2020

Pre-screening video recording

any piece of major trombone repertoire, incl. those with piano or orchestral accompaniment, that best represents your abilities

Required audition repertoire

 - 1st round (anonymous):

Ferdinand David - Concertino in E flat major (1st + 2nd movements)

orchestral excerpts:

A. Dvořák – Vodník/The Water Goblin (1st trombone)
W. A. Mozart - Requiem (Tuba mirum)
L. Janáček - Sinfonietta (parts 1st + 2nd trombone)
G. Mahler – Symphony No. 3

- 2nd round (non-anonymous)

obligatory piece:
Benedetto Marcello - Sonata in E minor (1st + 2nd mvts)
and a solo piece of the candidate´s choice

L. Janáček - Taras Bulba
M. Ravel - Bolero (1st trombone)
H. Berlioz: - Symphonie fantastique (1st trombone)

Third co-principal of double-basses

Czech Philharmonic and Music Director Semyon Bychkov announce audition for the 3nd co-principal of double-basses (with trial period starting January 1, 2021). 

Pre-screening video recording

  1. B. Vaňhal: Concerto in D major (or version in E major), 1st movement with any cadenza a 2nd movement with piano accompaniment

     or        G. Bottesini: Concerto in B minor
                 - two contrast movements

Orchestral excerpts will be attached to an invitation letter (after the application closing date).

German bow hold is essential for taking part in the audition.
Applicants have to play with a solo tuning.
The facility to play on 5 string double bass is expected for the announced position.

Pre-screening video recording

K. Stamic: Concerto for Viola op. 1, 1st movement, video to begin 2 bars prior the viola commencement up to bar No. 137 + cadenza (you may play without piano accompaniment, too)
