Great conductors are among the highlights of the Czech Philharmonic’s 125th jubilee season. Primarily Semyon Bychkov, the orchestra’s chief conductor, and both principal guest conductors, Jakub Hrůša and Tomáš Netopil, who have earned respect both at home and abroad. We will also welcome a legend of the music world, Sir John Eliot Gardiner.
The jubilee season asks for a particularly beautiful programme. Not to be missed are operas The Cunning Little Vixen by Leoš Janáček and Ariadna by Bohuslav Martinů, symphonic music by Smetana, Dvořák, and Suk, the Beethoven anniversary finale and world premieres of works by renowned composers dedicated to the orchestra. Performing will be star soloists: Daniil Trifonov, Karen Gomyo or Jan Martiník.

Subscription Series AK • Eight weekend concerts
Advent Sundays have traditionally been an opportunity to attend afternoon concerts at the Suk Hall. These programmes, with their Christmas theme and more popular mood, are presented by chamber ensembles of players from the Czech Philharmonic, and there has been considerable turnover on the list of this year’s performers in comparison with previous seasons.
