Subscription Series I

Seven evening concerts

The dominant feature of this series is undoubtedly the concert for the fiftieth anniversary of the famed Panocha Quartet. The celebration of a half-century anniversary is a rarity even in an international context. The ensemble will be celebrating it with their closest friends, members of the Pražák Quartet. We will also be encountering two ensembles of the younger generation – the Pavel Haas Quartet, which is the ensemble-in-residence this season, and the Sedláček Quartet, the winner of the 2016 Czech Chamber Music Society Prize. Joining this line-up of top quartets is the elite Smetana Trio. The series will also feature appearances by some larger musical ensembles of eminent artistic renown. We will be welcoming the Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra and the Czech Wind Harmony consisting mostly of members of the Czech Philharmonic. The appearance by Jiří Stivín’s Collegium Quodlibet will certainly please many of our listeners.
