Czech Chamber Music Society • Juilliard String Quartet

CSKH

This season, one of America’s most famous ensembles celebrates its 75th anniversary. On their European tour, the players are eagerly anticipating their visit to Prague. It is not without interest that their first recording with a new first violinist featured music by Bartók and Beethoven alongside Dvořák, who has an anniversary this year as well.

Naturally, Dvořák’s “American” Quartet was chosen for the concert in Prague, where they will also play Elliott Carter’s String Quartet No. 2, dedicated to the Juilliard Quartet. The concert begins with a familiar work by the German Romantic composer Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy.
