A SPECIAL CONCERT IN CELEBRATION OF INTERNATIONAL ROMANI DAY
Nearly 300 participants from the CzechRepublic and Slovakia, Romania, Serbia, Sweden, and Austria will be musically celebrating International Romani Day, which falls on 8 April. Since the day was declared in 1990, it has been commemorated in many countries not only by the Romani people themselves, but also by Pope John Paul II and the Dalai Lama. Now they are being joined by the Czech Philharmonic in cooperation with vocalist and choirmaster Ida Kelarová. The concert is also the climax of the project European Orchestra LABoratory (EOLAB) II with support from the EU programme Creative Europe.
The concert on 8 April 2019 at 8:20 p.m. will be broadcast live on the Czech Television channel ČT Art.
An auxiliary programme of music, literature, and the fine arts (details forthcoming) in collaboration with the ROMEA will take place before the concerts on 7 April 2019 (from 3 p.m.) and on 8 April 2019 (from 6 p.m.). The auxiliary programme is included in the price of the concert ticket.
