Lukáš Vondráček
piano
A great deal has been written about Lukáš Vondráček over the last years. Titles and praises have been flying in the air. He was the winner of the prestigious International Queen Elisabeth Piano Competition in 2016. Recitals have taken him to Vienna’s Konzerthaus, the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, to the Louvre; he has made repeated appearances in Concertgebouw, in the Concert Hall of the Luxemburg Philharmonie, in Portland and Chicago. What will he present us with this time? Ravel’s Sonatina inhabits a gracious world, and in Schubert’s Sonata, timelessness reigns. Prokofiev is different from bar to bar; he can be playful, gentle as well as ferocious. All these motions can be found as well in Lukáš Vondráček’s soul, as they are in his native Silesia. Hence, for Lukáš Chopin could be a kindred spirit, and he will play his music in mid-January at the Municipal House with our orchestra.
