Music in the Lives of Children Ages 3 to 8

Czech Philharmonic

How can music support children on their way to finding contact with others and with themselves? Can it help express emotions and overcome barriers? How can one teach, not go crazy, or keep from losing one’s joy?

During the planned cycle of gatherings led by the teacher and musician Ondřej Tichý, we will devote ourselves to the possibilities and role of music in teaching with practical exercises and an overlap into practice (help with visiting lessons in the classroom, contact with parents, preparing of exercises, little rituals supporting healthy relationships in the group, and supporting specific children with special needs). Other activities: forming the instrumentation in the classroom, choice of instruments for specific children, elementary improvisation and instrumentation, riddles and songs, training in possibilities for working with the voice, instruments and coordination of the body, support for speech, concentration, and expression of emotions.
