Audition for the position of
The Czech Philharmonic and its Chief Conductor and Music Director Semyon Bychkov announce an audition for the position of violoncello tutti. This is a full-time position starting October 1, 2025 or by appointment.
Application deadline: 19th May 2025
Audition repertoire
Pre-selection video recording:
J. Haydn: Concerto in C major - 1st movement with cadenza
(With the application, please send a link to your uploaded video recording on YouTube. The recording must be with piano or orchestral accompaniment, live & not older than 1 year)
1st Round (blind audition):
1. J. Haydn: Concerto in D major - 1st movement with cadenza
2. Orchestral excerpts:
- B. Smetana: The Bartered Bride – ouverture
2nd Round (non-blind audition):
- 1st and 2nd movements of a concerto of the repertoire of the 2nd half of the 19th century or the 1st half of the 20th century or a concertante piece from the same period upon to applicant´s choice (1st and 2nd movements)
2. Orchestral excerpts:

You can apply for the audition until 19 May 2025.
How the audition works
All audition applicants must complete an application form, which includes links to video recordings of the prescribed tracks, by the due date. From the applications received, the selection committee will select applicants with the appropriate level of performance, experience and education and send them an invitation to audition.
