He began to play the violin at the age of five. In 1984, he was enrolled at the Pardubice Conservatory and studied in the class of Professor Ivan Štraus. In 1990–1994, he studied with Professor Rudolf Šťastný at the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno. During his studies, he attended a number of masterclasses, including courses with Yehudi Menuhin in Paris (1990) and in Lübeck in 1992 with Professor Zakhar Bron, whose students have included famous violin virtuosi Vadim Repin and Maxim Vengerov.
Besides playing in the Czech Philharmonic, he is also a member of numerous chamber ensembles. With the Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, he has performed in Europe as well as Japan. Together with the Czech Philharmonic Collegium, he has worked with top Czech soloists, including violinists Pavel Šporcl, Václav Hudeček and singer Eva Urbanová. He is one of the founding members of the Czech Philharmonic Cimbalom Ensemble. Among their most memorable performances is the 2013 concert with world-renowned vocal instrumentalist Bobby McFerrin in the Rudolfinum in Prague.
In the Czech Philharmonic, he has been the deputy section leader of the second violins since 1996.
