He studied at the Prague Conservatory with Professor Jaroslav Ruis, the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague with Professor Lubomír Malý and later continued with a postgraduate degree in chamber music at Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Vienna with professors Günter Pichler and Thomas Kakuska.
He won the 2nd prize at the Czech Conservatories Competition in Kroměříž and together with the M. Nostitz Quartet, they took the 1st prize at the Charles Hennen Concours 1997 in Heerlen (Netherlands), the 2nd prize at the Prague Spring International Competition 1998 and 1st prize at the string quartet competition in Cremona (Italy) in the same year.
He founded the M. Nostitz Quartet with his peers at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague in 1994. Since then, the ensemble has performed in many countries on different continents, has collaborated with excellent soloists and recorded various CDs.
He occasionally plays with other chamber ensembles, including the Czech Nonet, Suk Chamber Orchestra and the Prague Chamber Orchestra. He was a member of the Czech Philharmonic viola section between 1990 and 1996 and later in 2008–2014 played in the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra. As a tutor, he has regularly participated in various summer chamber music courses (Divertimenti 2006, La Pellegrina).
