He studied at the Plzeň Conservatory and the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague with Professor Zdeněk Tylšar. During his studies, he won several prizes in competitions including the Prague Spring and the competition in Kraslice (Czech Republic). He had been the principal French horn player in the National Theatre before joining the Czech Philharmonic, with which he had been collaborating since 1985. As a soloist, he has appeared in concerts in Japan, the USA and Europe.

He teaches at the Plzeň Conservatory and is the bandleader of the local brass band 12°Plzeň. With the school brass band, he won the laureate award at the radio competition Concerto Bohemia 2018. He regularly teaches at interpretation courses and organises the interpretation festival French Horn Days. He recorded a CD with the Pražák Quartet featuring the world premiere of compositions for French horn and string quartet by Czech 18th century horn player and composer Jan Václav Stich-Punto.
