Musical Matinées HP

Seven early evening concerts

Concerts by superb quartets will dominate this series, with appearances by the Vlach Quartet and the Apollon Quartet, elite chamber ensembles that have long held a place of prominence in Czech musical life. The FAMA Quartet, a dynamic ensemble with progressive programmes specializing in contemporary music, will be presenting itself in works by Jan Klusák and Miroslav Srnka. The Afflatus Quintet, with members including the oboist Jana Brožková and the horn player Radek Baborák, will definitely interest all devotees of superlative wind playing. There will also be solo performances by the Czech Philharmonic concertmaster Josef Špaček and by the winner of multiple competition prizes, the Czech Philharmonic horn player Kateřina Javůrková, in works by Ludwig van Beethoven and Johannes Brahms.
